Cinnamon Folds: The Scandinavian Classic Kids Love

TL;DR
Think cinnamon rolls, but easier to shape: soft yeast dough, butter, cinnamon and sugar folded into a round pan. Cozy, simple and very hard to mess up.

Cinnamon Folds: The Scandinavian Classic Kids Love

So geht’s

  1. Mix the yeast with lukewarm water and sugar, then add flour, salt, egg and soft butter and knead everything into a smooth, soft dough.
  2. Let the dough rise for about 1 hour until it has clearly grown. If you have time, chill it for another 1 to 2 hours so it becomes easier to roll out.
  3. Roll the dough into a square on a floured surface. Stir melted butter with brown sugar, cinnamon and optionally a little cardamom, then spread it evenly over the dough.
  4. Cut the dough into wide strips and fold each strip back and forth like an accordion. Place the folded strips tightly next to each other in a buttered springform pan.
  5. Let everything rise again for about 30 minutes, then bake at 200°C top and bottom heat for around 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Let them cool briefly and serve them while still a little warm. Add a little powdered sugar on top if you want.

Warum das hilft

Folding is easier than shaping classic cinnamon rolls, but you still get the same soft center, caramelized edges and cozy cinnamon smell through the whole kitchen.
