How to do it
Open a photo, screenshot, or PDF and tap Markup. Draw a simple shape in one stroke: a circle, oval, line, arrow, rectangle, star, or speech bubble. Do not lift your finger immediately at the end. Hold still for a moment. When iOS recognizes the shape, your rough sketch snaps into a clean geometric version.
Why it helps
Your annotations look tidy without opening a separate design app. This is useful when you want to circle a button in a screenshot, point to a detail, or highlight an area neatly. You stay fast, and the mark itself does not distract from what you are trying to show.
Shapes that work well
Simple shapes work best: circles, squares, rectangles, lines, arrows, and stars. Draw the shape as one continuous stroke where possible. If iOS does not convert it, try holding a little longer at the end or make the outline clearer on the next attempt.
Good to know
This feature does not clean up complex drawings or turn vague sketches into polished illustrations. It is meant for quick, precise annotations. After the shape snaps into place, tap it to move it, resize it, or adjust it with the handles.
