TL;DR
Quickly share any webpage via iMessage, WhatsApp, Email and more with just two taps.
Sharing a link from Safari takes two taps β but the share sheet can do much more than just send a URL. Here's the full picture.
The basics
- Open the page you want to share
- Tap the Share button (square with upward arrow) at the bottom
- Pick your app: iMessage, WhatsApp, Mail, AirDrop, etc.
- Send
The hidden power moves
The share sheet isn't just for sharing β it's a mini command center:
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Copy link | Tap "Copy" in the share sheet (faster than selecting the URL) |
| Add to Reading List | Save for offline reading β syncs across all Apple devices |
| Add to Home Screen | Creates an app-like icon for any website |
| Add Bookmark | Save permanently in your bookmarks |
| Find on Page | Search for text within the current page |
| Send to AirPrint printer or save as PDF | |
| Markup | Screenshot and annotate the page |
Alternative: long-press the URL bar
Long-press the address bar and tap Copy to grab the link without opening the share sheet. Quick and minimal.
Share as a rich preview vs. plain link
When you share via iMessage or WhatsApp, Safari automatically includes a rich preview (title + thumbnail). If you just paste a copied link, some apps show the same preview, others show the raw URL.
Customize your share sheet
The share sheet shows your most-used apps first. To reorder:
- Scroll to the right in the apps row
- Tap More (three dots)
- Tap Edit in the top-right
- Drag apps to reorder, toggle favorites on/off
Put your three most-used sharing targets first β it saves a scroll every single time.
